Pranayama Breath Workshop

Pranayama is the fourth limb of Pantanjali’s eight limb yoga system. While it’s situated in the middle of the eight limbs, it is the most important aspect and limb of yoga as it is what keeps us alive, feeding ALL of the systems of the body, and allows us to have both inner and outer experiences.

Prana means life energy or life force. We can think of the breath as a vehicle that carries the life force energy into and out of the body – when we inhale, we’re nourishing the physical body and subtle nadis, or energy channels, with new prana and when we exhale we’re detoxifying the whole system by releasing energy that we no longer need.

In this workshop, we are going to explore two locks to help concentrate the mind, a few calming pranayama techniques to soothe the nervous system, and a meditation to keep us connected to the breath.
